My little man is a whole 12 months – one year old! I can’t believe how quickly this past year has gone by. I have really enjoyed writing/filming these monthly updates every month so thank you all of you who have taken the time to follow along with mine and Camdyn’s journey. Now I have a great set of memories to look back on. I may continue to do updates every so often for those of you that are interested. Watch the full update on Youtube. Also check out our Baby’s First Birthday video for a glimpse into Camdyn’s first birthday party. At the end of this blog post, I have our complete collection of monthly photos. We had a lot of fun coming up with themes and taking the photos each month.
At one year old, Camdyn has light blond, curly hair and bright blue eyes. Seeing as that I have brown eyes, I am so surprised his have remained blue! At his twelve month appointment we learned that he is 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. His height has really shot up since our last in person doctors appointment!
He still isn’t walking independently but he is motoring around everywhere with his little push toys. I give it a few more weeks, I think he will be there. He is just such a fast crawler he hasn’t really had the motivation to walk. He can say 3 words – dada, hi, and dog – and sign 3 words – milk, all done, and change (as in diaper). Change was a new sign he learned this month!
Camdyn truly is such a little bubble of personality. He is so silly, happy, outgoing, energetic, and is super affectionate. He loves go for walks, play on the playground, go to gymnastics, and dance. Camdyn loves cars, his favourite stuffed sloth, picking out his clothes, and doing activities that require focus and skill.
A Year of Breastfeeding!
I am so excited that we made it to the one year mark! My goal was to initially make it to 6 months, and here we are at the 12 month point still going strong. We had a rough start to our breastfeeding journey, where my milk was slow to come in and Camdyn was so hungry around the 3 days mark. I have also had days where I wanted nothing more than to give up. But I am glad I persevered. It has been an incredible bonding experience for the two of us and I plan to continue for as long as Camdyn wants to.
We are definitely going to be continuing to encourage Camdyn to walk and talk over the next couple of months. He continues to go gymnastics and I am hoping that being around other walking kids will help encourage him. So let’s hope this pandemic stays somewhat under control! We have him enrolled in swimming again starting this fall as well.
I’ve been putting together a lot of sensory activities for Camdyn lately because he really enjoys them. Eventually, I plan to put together a sensory activity ideas blog post in the near future to keep an eye out for that!
Another major change, is that I am returning back to work. I am so blessed to live in a country where we can receive up to 18 months of paid, job protected leave. Due to financial reasons, I chose to go back at the 12 month mark. Fortunately, Connor and I are able to work opposite shifts to keep Camdyn out of daycare. It is definitely going to be a huge adjustment for all three of us.
If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you will have seen our monthly photos that we did every month. We would create the number out of small objects we were able to find that kind of related to the month or season. We had so much fun creating the photos every month and it is so great to be able to look back and see how much each changed month to month.
I hope you enjoyed our 12 month (and final) update! Check out some of our other monthly updates below. Until next time, XX.
