Natasha Denona Peak Palette
I was super excited to see a Natasha Denona palette in a BoxyCharm box. Natasha Denona is an award winning makeup artist with a successful high-end makeup brand. The Peak Palette is a Boxy exclusive. It is a 5 pan palette with essential everyday warm-toneed pigments. There are 4 matte shadow and 1 metallic shadow in this palette. This product is cruelty-free and not tested on animals!
I was a tad disappointed in these eyeshadows. The shadows themselves were smooth and pigmented. They blended out nicely on the eye, but I had higher expectations for a $48.00 5 pan eye shadow palette. This palette is nice and compact, making it perfect for traveling.
COST: $48.00 USD / $63.00 CAD (for a similar 5 pan ND palette on Sephora.com)
This Ampoule comes in a super cute red-dyed ombre bottle, and contains red algae and plant stem cells. These ingredients restore antioxidants, balance skin pH, and smooth fine lines + wrinkles. Boxy describes it as a “god send” for skin in need of after sun replenishment, and a bold defence against elements and thriving barrier function. This product is plant based and cruelty free, and the brand is women owned! You can either add 2+ drops to your face after cleansing / toning or mix it into serum face oil or moisturizer.
This ampoule was extremely oily. It has a slight sunscreen scent. If you have oily skin, I definitely do not recommend this product. I will only be applying this at night, so that my skin has time to really soak it in. It did leave my skin feeling really smooth and hydrated. I can definitely see how this product is soothing to sun damaged skin!
COST: $48.00 USD / ~ $62.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)
This is a tinted brow gel with tiny microfibres that adhere to skin and hairs to help create natural, full looking brows. Actually, I almost ordered this brow gel the other day because my ABH one ran out and I forgot that this was my November Boxy choice product! I chose shade 3 – neutral light brown.
I really liked this eyebrow gel. It has a small applicator brush, which allows for really precise application. This brow gel definitely makes my brows look fuller. It is easy to just apply and go.
COST: $24.00 USD / $32.OO CAD (on Sephora.com)
This beautiful highlighter palette contains 3 shades. Malibu is a subtle champagne, Santa Monica gives you a “golden hour” look, and Manhattan Beach is an ultimate bronze. Beauty Creations claims that all 3 shades suit all skin tones. Looking at the shades in the pan, I found it doubtful that Manhattan Beach would make a good highlighter for my skin tone. This product is cruelty free.
These highlights are some of the creamiest, buttery, smooth highlighters I have ever felt. They are super pigmented and apply really beautifully with a brush. This highlighter is buildable, without being chunky or glittery. This is an affordable highlighter palette option that definitely rivals some of the higher end highlights out there. Surprisingly, I actually liked the look of Manhattan Beach on my skin tone. So I am happy that I will get use out of all 3 shades, but I still think saying that this palette works for all skin tones is an extremely bold claim.
COST: $14.99 USD / $24.00 CAD. (on Amazon.ca & Walmart.ca)
This primer is a water based eye primer designed to glue the eyeshadow in place and maximize colour. It is water and wear resistant and also can be used as a glitter glue. A little pro tip they provided was to mix with your concealer to customize the shade.
Most of the eye primers I have used have been a peach/pink toned colour, so this colour was a bit unique compared to what I have seen. This primer was extremely tacky, even after I left it for a few minutes to set. This made it a bit harder to work with because the shadow kept sticking to certain patches of my eyelid. But it wasn’t that unpleasant and it really made my eyeshadow stay put. My only complaint would be that I received an eye shadow primer not that long ago from Boxy. It’s not one of those products I use often.
COST: $15.00 USD / ~ $20.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)
Final Thoughts on the November 2020 BoxyCharm Base Box
