Another month – another BoxyCharm review! Welcome to my April 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box Review. This month’s base box has a total value of $148! BoxyCharm is a monthly makeup subscription that costs $25USD (+5 shipping if you are in Canada like me). Interested in trying out BoxyCharm? This month’s theme was “Sweet Treats”. Each month BoxyCharm gives their base subscribers one choice item in their box. For April, we had the choice between the Earth Harbour Aurora Superfood Luminance Ampoule, Studiomakeup Tinted Moisturizer, and Touch in Sol Pretty Filter Icy Sherbet Primer. Keep on reading to find out what products I received in my April 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box!

Natasha Denona Jubilee Eyeshadow Palette

The Jubilee palette was a special edition 5 pan eye shadow palette created exclusively for BoxyCharm! One of my favourite parts of the BoxyCharm subscription is the opportunity to receive special edition products such a this one. This palette is cruelty and allergen free. The one downside about receiving this eyeshadow palette, was that a received a different 5 pan Natasha Denona palette back in November.

These eyeshadows are really buttery and soft. The fourth shadow was surprisingly a blue rather than a black shadow. It was a pain to get off (so take note if you ever plan to use that colour on your lids)! The matte shadows applied and blended beautifully; however, there was a fair amount of kickback. The shimmer shades were also nice, but I do not think they are worth the $48 price tag that comes with this palette. This eyeshadow palette is very limiting in the number of looks that you can do with it, so I do not see myself reaching for it often.

COST: USD $48.00 / $63.00 CAD (on for a similar 5 pan palette)

Earth Harbor Naturals Aurora Superfood Luminance Ampoule

This superfood ampoule is supposed to illuminate, energize, and soothe the skin. It contains Sea Greens, Cannabis Sativa Hemp Oil, Grapeseed Oil, and Neem Seed Extract. This was my choice for this month; however, I hate the scent of superfood products so I am not sure why I chose this. It smells horrible.

I find Earth Harbor products to be on the oily side – and this was no exception. The ampoule was sticky, and didn’t soak well into the skin at all. Even after applying a full face of foundation and powder, my skin looked extremely oily on camera. I definitely do not recommend this for anyone with oily skin. Similarly to the last Earth Harbor product I received, I will probably only use this in the evening.

COST: USD $32.00 / ~ $40.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)

Dragun Beauty Dragunfire Color Corrector

I have to say that I was a little bit skeptical when I saw the lavender colour of this colour corrector. But I have never used the Dragun Beauty brand, so I was pretty excited to try it out. This color correcter is supposed to help conceal, correct, and perfect the appearance of dark circles, discolouration, and blemishes.

I applied this to my under eye area in place of my usual colour corrector, and again was pretty shocked by the bright purple colour of it. Once blended out however, I could immediately see the difference in my under eye discolouration. My concealer applied and blended out beautifully over top of it. I will definitely add this into my regular rotation.

COST: USD $25.00 / ~ $31.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)

Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick

This lipstick is supposed to moisturize lips with a creamy, vibrant colour that is weightless and lasts all day. I received the shade Battery Park Bronze, which is a metallic. It came in nice, sleek, black packaging and the lipstick itself was extra curved for easier application.

This lipstick was actually really sheer and creamy. It had little specks of gold glitter, but they aren’t super noticeable unless you are up close. I would not describe this lipstick as being long-wearing, as it required reapplication after eating. It is very pretty though.

COST: USD $21.00 / ~ $26.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)

Terre de Mars 008 Reddition Body Cleanser

This organic, soft cleanser is infused with active ingrediants such as coffee, rosemary extracts, and verbena oil in order to tone, purify, and protect the skin. It also contains aloe vera to nourish and soften the skin. I had never heard of this brand before, nor used a body cleanser, so I was pretty excited to try it out.

This cleanser smells amazing! It is a clear, jelly like cleanser that has a light foam to it when buffed onto the skin. It left my legs feeling soft and hydrated. This will be the perfect finish after shaving in the summer time!

COST: USD $22.00 / ~$28.00 CAD

Overall, the April 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box was a win! With the exception of the ampoule, I will get a lot of use out of this month’s products. The value of this month’s box was $148.00 USD / ~ $188.00 CAD. You cannot complain about that value for a $25 box! What products did you receive in this months box?! Until next time, XX.
