It’s officially been one month since I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy Camdyn! I decided to sit down and film an update about all of the things Camdyn has gone through this past month.
Have you read my labour and delivery story about how Camdyn was accidentally born at home?! You can read that blog post here.
In the video I talk about our journey with breastfeeding, Camdyn’s hospital stay when he was 10 days old, and some of the other struggles and triumphs we’ve had over the past month. You can watch the entire video here.
To summarize Camdyn:
- Weighs 9lbs and 15oz as of his 1 month appointment
- Is still waking every 2 hours to feed (on his own), but goes right back to bed in the night time
- Enjoys tummy time
- Has great head strength!
- Has started following objects with his eyes
However, the first month hasn’t come without difficulty. We struggled with breastfeeding in the beginning because my milk was slow to come in. I later learned this was a side effect of some of my medication. Camdyn was also sent to the emergency room due to a heart murmur that appeared during his 10 day appointment that hadn’t been heard before. During the hospital visit, his oxygen scores were lower than normal, so we’ve been referred to a cardiologist and are waiting on his appointment. At the time of filming we didn’t have an appointment date – but we have since received one.
Overall, I love being a mom. It has been a relatively easy transition thus far, but I know the winter months will be more challenging. I am itching to get involved in some mom + baby classes, but am waiting for Camdyn to receive his first round of shots. I look forward to watching my baby grow and become his own little person.
