Another month – another BoxyCharm review! Happy New Years Chamers! Welcome to my January 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box Review. This month’s base box has a total value of $204! BoxyCharm is a monthly makeup subscription that costs $25USD (+5 shipping if you are in Canada like me). Interested in trying out BoxyCharm? Use my referral link here.

This month’s theme was “Fresh Start”. Such a fitting theme after the year 2020 was. Each month BoxyCharm gives their base subscribers one choice item in their box. For January, we had the choice between the PUR 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer, Persona Cosmetics Power Brush, The Lifestyle CO Reset Mist, Ace Beauté Bronzed in Paradise Palette, Avant Skincare Bi-Phase Hyaluronic Acid Rejuvenating Micellar Water, Beauty Creations Esmerelda II, and Laura Geller’s High Def Glow Illuminator Duo. I actually missed the choice period for this month, so every item in my box was a complete surprise! Keep on reading to find out what products I received in my January 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box.

Violet Voss Olive You Forever Eyeshadow Palette

This Violet Voss Eyeshadow Palette was designed with universally flattering olive tones. It contains 3 different luxe eyeshadow formulas: creamy mattes, mesmerizing metallics, and impactful foils. This is also apparently a new launch! I love receiving custom products or new launches in my BoxyCharm – it is such a fun perk. of being a Charmer.

This is such a cute eyeshadow palette. I do wish that there was an olive matte shadow because there are only 3 olive toned shades in the palette and they are all shimmers. These shadows perform nicely. They are pigmented, but not overly pigmented. They blend out really nicely without getting muddy. The shimmer shades apply nicely both with a finger or a wet brush. The shadows also stayed really nicely throughout the day. Overall, I enjoyed this palette but it was nothing special.

COST: $34.00 USD / ~ $43.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)

Farmacy Deep Sweep 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner

This toner is an alcohol-free formula that gently exfoliates, deep cleans pores, and controls oils without over-stripping the skin. It contains salicylic acid, moringa water, and papaya enzyme’s that help reduce shine and the look of pores. The formula is also paraben, mineral oil, phthalate, formaldehyde, AND cruelty free! This toner is meant for individuals with combination or oil prone skin – which I do not have. So that was a little bit disappointing.

The toner has a pleasant scent, but it is not overwhelming. I did try the toner out for testing purposes, and I didn’t find it to be that drying. It left my face feeling clean, but I definitely prefer the Glow Recipe Watermelon Toner. I will probably give this toner to my fiancé to use.

COST: $35.00 USD / $37.00 CAD (on Sephora.com)

PUR 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer

This tinted moisturizer is an all in 1 sunscreen, moisturizer, primer, and foundation with an SPF 20. I received the shade Buff MN3, which is described as being for light medium skin with neutral undertones. This formula is vegan, gluten and cruelty free!

I’ve never used a tinted moisturizer before, so I was actually really excited to try this. I typically gravitate towards more lightweight, sheer foundations because I like my beauty marks on my face to still be visible. This tinted moisturizer is perfect for what I like! It covered the spots of redness on my face and evened out my skin tone, but still looked natural. The colour match was practically perfect. The product didn’t separate or cake on my face. And after an evening of wear, it had settled a bit into my smile lines but nothing dramatic. I didn’t find it to be overly hydrating, so I will still use a moisturizer but I think this definitely became a staple for me!

COST: $35.00 USD / $46.00 CAD (on Shoppersdrugmart.ca)

DR BRANDT I Do not Age Triple Peptide Eye Cream

This eye cream claims to be a deeply hydrating, peptide powdered cream that helps diminish all signs of aging. This includes fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness. This eye cream is formulated for all skin types.

The eye cream is very nice and hydrating for the eye area. It definitely left my eyes looking more bright and awake. I would need to try this out for a few weeks before I would see any of the anti-aging benefits. Hopefully they are there because this eye cream has a hefty price tag!

COST: $85.00 USD / $105.00 CAD (on Sephora.com)

Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lip Gloss

I received the shade Unprofessional which was described as being a sheer hot peach. The swatch looked more like a Barbie, bubblegum pink rather than a peach colour. This lipgloss is vegan and cruelty free. It also has no scent.

This is a super sheer lipgloss that doesn’t come across as pink as I thought it would, making it much more wearable. The formula is really comfortable and not at all sticky. It gives the lips a super glossy look!

COST: $18.00 USD / ~ $23.00 CAD (based on the current exchange rate)

Final Thoughts on the January 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box

Overall, the January 2021 BoxyCharm Base Box was a good box! With the exception of the Farmacy toner, I definitely will get use out these products. Also, I love when I receive a product that I just LOVE! The value of this month’s box was $204 USD / $254 CAD. You cannot complain about that value for a $25 box. BoxyCharm is definitely off to a good start in 2021! What products did you receive in this months box?! Until next time, XX.
