This month’s theme was “Candy Shop”. Each month BoxyCharm gives their base subscribers one choice item in their box. For October, we had the choice between the Dose of Colors Meet Your Hue Concealer, MURAD AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser, FARSALI Prive Quench, and the REALHER Ultimate Glow Getter Cheek Trio. Keep on reading to find out what products I received in my October 2020 BoxyCharm base box!

Ciaté London New England Editor Palette

This eyeshadow palette is inspired by New England in the fall! There are a total of 18 eyeshadows with a mixture of metallic, glitter, and matte finishes in autumnal hues.

I love the cute, durable packaging of this eyeshadow palette. There is a good size mirror inside, which is always a bonus. Upon opening the palette, I was immediately impressed with the wide colour range – from gold, to blues, to reds, to purples – this palette has a nice range. My one complaint is that it ony has 4 matte shadows, which can be a little difficult for putting together a complete look.

Overall, I really loved this eyeshadow palette. The mattes were buttery, smooth, and blended beautifully. They were not super pigmented shadows, but did build nicely. The shimmer and metallic shadows were my absolute favourite! They were so smooth and pigmented, and didn’t have a ton of fallout when applied to the lid. These shadows do require an eye primer because they do not last very long on the lid without.

COST: USD $32.00 / ~ $42.00 CAD (based on current exchange rate)

Luxie Wonderlust Set

The Wonderlust set contains 5 eyebrushes and a cute little black travel carrying case. The collection includes a Tapered Shading Brush, a Blending Brush, a Medium Angled Brush, a Larger Shader Brush, and a Brow and Lash Brush. Luxie brushes are a common item that are in BoxyCharm boxes. BoxyCharm can be a great way to affordably build your brush collection!

Upon opening these brushes, the scent was horrible and extremely chemically. This is a problem I have noticed in the past with brands like Morphe, and is often due to the glue used on the brushes. I would give these guys 24 hours to air out prior to use.

The brushes are soft. They feel dense and good quality. They did a good job applying and blending out the shadows. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the type of brushes we received, but that is more of a personal preference. For some reason I thought that Luxie brushes were more affordable (more comparable to Morphe) but the $40.00 price tag is comparable to their other brush sets.

COST: USD $40.00 / ~ $50.00 CAD (based on current exchange rate)

Dose of Colors Meet Your Hue Concealer

I am so excited that BoxyCharm introduced choice products so that products like concealer can be included. This way each charmer was able to choose their shade! Dose of Colors claims this is a full coverage concealer with a lightweight easy to blend formula. It conceals dark undereye circles and blemishes.

I chose the shade 12 light-medium and I was a little worried it was going to be too dark, but it is a perfect match! It is lightweight and blends out beautifully. It doesn’t crease or cake under the eye area. When used alone, it doesn’t completely cover my dark circles. But when used with my Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, it does a good job.

COST: USD $24.00 / ~ $32.00 CAD (based on current exchange rate)

Symbiosis London Tightening & Resplendent Eye Mask

This is the product that blew my mind. $93.00 for a 15ml eye cream. I find that eye creams tend to be on the expensive side, but this is outrageous! I had never heard of this brand but a quick Google search shows that this is definitely a clean brand. They are cruelty-free, and their core values include choice, transparency, and honesty.

Apparently, this eye cream is a revolutionary innovation in the beauty mark. This eye mask in-cream tightens, rejuvenates, and brightens the delicate eye area. It contains hyaluronic acid, Pullulan, and shea butter to visibly reduce puffiness and the appearance of fine lines and dark circles.

It eye cream has a slight sweet scent and is white in colour. When applied to the eye area, there is almost a cooling effect. The eye cream immediately hydrates the eye area. There is no immediate difference in the eye area, but this is a type of product that requires a couple of weeks of use before you can see any major differences. But I really don’t understand where the $93.00 price tag comes from.

COST: USD $93.00 / ~ $122.00 CAD (based on current exchange rate)

LAVAA Lashes Charm Faux Mink Lashes

These lashes are lightweight and fluffy handcrafted luxury lashes. I don’t wear fake lashes, almost ever. So I always get disappointed when I receive lashes in my BoxyCharm. These ones are particularly dramatic, so I don’t have much of a plan for these guys in the near future. They are pretty, soft, and affordable.

COST: USD $19.99 / ~ $26.00 CAD

Final Thoughts on the October 2020 BoxyCharm Base Box

Overall, The October 2020 BoxyCharm base box was overall a good box. I am really excited about the palette, the concealer, and the eye cream (that costs 4x the cost of the box!!!). The total value of this month’s box was $208.99 USD / ~ $272.00 CAD! Can’t really complain about that.

What variation did you receive this month? Until next time. XX.
